CALL FOR ONSITE COMMUNICATION VOLUNTEER ASSISTANT

Are you passionate about storytelling, social impact, digital media, and community development? Vision in Action Cameroon (VIAC) is seeking a dedicated and creative Communication Volunteer Assistant to support our communications and visibility efforts.

This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates and young professionals looking to gain practical experience in communications within the nonprofit sector.

Location

Onsite – Buea, Southwest Region, Cameroon

Duration

6 Months (Renewable based on performance and organizational needs)

Position Summary

The Communication Volunteer Assistant will work closely with the Communication Officer to support content creation, social media management, event coverage, documentation, and visibility activities across our programs and projects.

Key Responsibilities

Content Creation & Storytelling

  • Draft social media posts, captions, and awareness messages.
  • Assist in writing blog articles, newsletters, success stories, and impact stories.
  • Support the development of communication materials for campaigns and events.
  • Collect stories, testimonials, and field updates from project activities.

Social Media Management

  • Assist in scheduling and publishing content across VIAC’s social media platforms.
  • Monitor engagement and respond to inquiries when assigned.
  • Track social media performance and compile monthly analytics reports.
  • Support online campaigns and digital advocacy initiatives.

Photography & Videography

  • Capture photos and videos during meetings, trainings, community outreach activities, and events.
  • Organize and archive multimedia content.
  • Assist in basic photo and video editing.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Take notes during meetings and events.
  • Support the preparation of activity reports and communication briefs.
  • Maintain an organized repository of communication materials and project documentation.

Design & Branding

  • Assist in creating flyers, posters, banners, and other visual communication materials.
  • Ensure communication products align with VIAC’s branding guidelines.

Event Support

  • Assist with event promotion and publicity.
  • Provide communication support during workshops, trainings, campaigns, and community events.
  • Conduct live coverage of activities through social media updates.

Required Qualifications

  • Student, recent graduate, or graduate in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Media Studies, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Basic knowledge of social media platforms and digital communication.
  • Ability to take initiative and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Passion for community development and social impact.

Desirable Skills

  • Graphic design skills (Canva, Adobe Express, Photoshop, etc.).
  • Photography and videography skills.
  • Video editing skills.
  • Experience managing social media pages.
  • Knowledge of content writing and storytelling.
